Using Spice with an external program?
|
|
|
Is there any way to run spice using data from an external program? Let me provide an example of what I'm thinking about. Suppose I had another application that could create a .cir file that could specify the part, starting node, ending node, and part value. For example if it was a simple RC circuit I could specify a power supply, resistor, and a capacitor. My application would create this .cir file, and from a command prompt somehow startup spice and specify the .cir file, run it, and then I could open up the associated .out file to look at results?
Know it's a broad strokes question, but I think there could be some interesting apps if this is a possibility.
Thanks,
HFL

Hey,
and welcome to the forum.
You may post this in the PSpice section of the forum, cause the Spice freaks never read the Basic PCB Design section. Sorry I can't help you, i never worked with Spice, I am just a dumb layouter ;-)

I've had people that wanted to use spice at a more command line level without using Capture and although it's not the way I use the tool, it is possible and I think that I can point you to some useful resources.
I'd check in to the Reference Guide in the 'Before you begin" section -> "Command Line Options' and the following sections on commands. These are useful commands to use within the PSpice tool itself. The reference guide is located in <install>/docs/pspcref/pspcref.pdf.
Hopefully this gives you a bit of direction.
Regards, Matthew
