Why is the Component Information Portal (CIP) unable to check out the license when other tools can?


I get the following error when I try to log in to CIP:

Failed to initialize licensing...ERROR (LMC-01902): License call failed. The license server search path is defined as <none>. Can't find license file. Run 'lic_error LMC-01902' for more information.

Why do I get this error and how can I resolve this?


CIP verifies/reads CDS_LIC_FILE only from System Variables.

So, make sure that you have CDS_LIC_FILE defined under System Variables.

Restart the CIP-E web server and DB server so they can read correctly the CDS_LIC_FILE variable.
