What's New
QIR refers to Quarterly Incremental Release which delivers new OrCAD features in-between major releases. This accelerated release process was introduced in the 16.6 release. QIR updates are available to all customers on maintenance.
OrCAD PCB SI - 16.6 QIR#6
- Windows 8.1 Support: OrCAD is officially supported on Windows 8.1
OrCAD PCB SI - 16.6
- PCB SI Integration and Flow: With product integration comes a new bi-directional schematic-entry/signal-integrity flow that allows electrical engineers to explore circuit topologies, develop constraints, and analyze signal integrity Video (add this!)
- SigXplorer Enhancements:
- Auto-Solving on Topology Extraction: Trace model solving during extraction to speed up the process
- Working with Vias: Dynamic vias can be added to the canvas with the Add Via command or with the existing Via toolbar icon
- Context Menu Commands Enhancements: New commands have been added to change multiple parameters at same time and automatically select a primary receiver
- Constraint-Driven Flow Enhancements: If the RefDes value of an instance is changed in a design, the change is reflected in all the ECSets which include the RefDes
- Enhancements to Signal Setup and Audit Commands: Numerous enhancements have been made to streamline and enhance the setup process
OrCAD PCB SI - 16.5
- I/O Cell Editor in Model Editor: Model Editor has been enhanced to include IOCell Object Editor, which provides you an interface to edit and manage various parameters of the selected IOCell model
- SI Application Mode: The application mode functionality in Allegro PCB Editor provides an intuitive environment in which frequently-used commands are readily accessible from right mouse button pop-up menus, based on the selected set of design elements
- SI Audit and Design Setup Commands: Two new commands invoke wizards that walk you through the steps required to set up the tool and also perform audit on the designs
OrCAD PCB SI - 16.3
- Ease of Use Improvements:
- Pre-Route Analysis: GUI changes in SigXplorer include new customizable toolbars with icons for existing commands and for easy access to canvas symbols. The tabs at the bottom of the canvas have been replaced with dockable folding window panes which offer the flexibility of user customization and easy access to more canvas real estate.
- Stack-up Aware SigXplorer: SigXplorer now uses the same stack-up data as the OrCAD PCB board file. There is new functionality to load and manage stack-up data including the ability to save any edits made back out into a techfile.
- Native IBIS Support: You now have the option of managing your IBIS model data in its native format. This includes setting up libraries in the IBIS format as well as model selection and assignment. Editing will also be in the IBIS native format.
- Improved wrapping of HSpice & Spectre transistor level models: A new model-wrapping wizard automates the process and guides you through all of the necessary steps and provides options for dealing with various scenarios including black box and full I/O Cell implementations.
- Improved Library management: Library management is now directory based for all model formats including DML. Directories are added to the search path. Native formats are located in those directories based on File Extensions
- IO Model Editing: The new Model Editor is integrated into the new Model Browser and Model Wrapping Wizard. This editor is a new graphical option for text editing models
- Case Management: Case Management allows for simulation data and environment to be saved for future reuse
- Signal Quality Screening: This feature is based on a completely new methodology to quickly screen a collection of nets to identify the “noisiest”. The methodology uses the Impulse Response to predict signal quality
- Surface Roughness controls for EMS2D: New controls have been added to the EMS2D Preferences dialog for Surface Roughness which can be a significant source of energy loss for signals. The settings include an RMS Value for the skin depth and a choice of three models
- SigXplorer ABIML Library: The SigXplorer ABIML Library is a free library that includes ABIML libraries for SigXplorer default trace models with surface roughness effect. It is designed to provide accurate trace models without time consuming EMS2D solver runs.
- Spectre Version Update: The officially supported version of Spectre for this release has been updated to MMSIM 7.1.1
